How did Cornwall College prepare you?
Attending Cornwall College is not for the weak at heart. Going to an all-boys school there was no room to be soft or slight. The toughness I gathered at Cornwall has helped in many ways of my life whether it being not giving up easily or simply just looking at situations with an attitude to find the best solution. Track and Field at CC. was not always something I took seriously until about my last two years. The drive and push my coaches put into me helped me understand that I truly had the talent to excel on the track. They, however, did not let me forget that grades came first and without proper grades I would not be able to compete for the team. The discipline instilled by our coaches prepared us to respect and understand that they only have our best at heart and even when we refuse to believe it, they know what is best.
What words of encouragement/advice would you provide to current student-athletes?
In every instance trust your coaches. They know what is best and they will always put your best interest first. Buy into the program and do what is required, work hard and the results will come. Slack off and hiding from training gets you nowhere. I guarantee you that all those girls you are chasing will chase you when they see you representing Cornwall and maybe even the country in the future. Time wasted can’t be regained and to quote one of the best principals to this date “Nothing great or worthwhile achieving was ever achieved without enthusiasm.”
